Immunohistologic Study of P53, Ki 67 and c-H-ras Antisera on the tumor of Central Nervous system

Abstract
Tumors of central nervous system have distinct biological and clinical characteritics compared with those of other organs. Majority of brain tumors are be-nign in biological behavior, even though they may be fatal to the host by destroying the
vital
brain tissue. And the malignant brain tumor has no or little metastatic activity to another sites beyond the brain.
Since Payton Rous found that virus could develop transformation of cultured fibroblast and the viral oncogene has the role of neoplastic transformation, there has been many reports to find causative oncogenes in various neoplasms in many organs.
However there are few reports on the tumors of central nervous system.
So we carried an immunohistochemical study to evaluate the presence of P53, Ki 67 and c-H-ras oncoproteins on 36 tumor of central nervous system.
@ES The results are as followings:
@EN 1. c-H-ras antiserum revealed the highest ratio on the cells of astrocytoma.
2. Ki 67 positivity and Ki 67 proliferating index is higher in medulloblastoma than any other tumors.
3. P 53 antiserum revealed highest ratio on the cells of medulloblastoma.
